THE JOURNEY
“Would you like a cup of tea?” he asked. All of a sudden, I couldn’t help but appreciate that just two weeks prior I was seated in my office in Berlin with the abstract dream of creating a book and in that very moment, seven-time Bathurst 1000 champion, Jim Richards was making me a cup of tea.
My name is Alexander Qureitem and I have spent the last 12 years living in Germany and working as a photographer and videographer within the automotive industry. Having grown up in England, Australia and Japan, I have always been exposed to the Japanese car scene and am fascinated how the culture has developed over the years.
As a life-long fan of the Nissan Skyline GT-R, I have always had the dream of creating something for the GT-R community.
I eventually made the decision to create a book documenting a completely unplanned journey around the world. I purchased a one way flight ticket and set off on an adventure to discover the people responsible for the mass following of the RB generation of GT-Rs. My journey ended up taking me completely around the world via Melbourne, Los Angeles, San Francisco, London, Dubai and Tokyo, to name just a few places.
I managed to meet and photograph some of the legendary characters who forged the reputation of the GT-R as well as racing drivers, photographers, engineers and die-hard fans.
This book is a journal of the memories experienced along the way.
